Inadine non-adherent dressing

Inadine is a non-adherent dressing impregnated with povidone iodine antimicrobial

Inadine is an appropriate antimicrobial for the treatment and prevention of infection in flat acute or chronic wounds.

Inadine should not be used on patients with known hypersensitivity to iodine, before or after use of radio-iodine or in cases of Duhring's herpetiform dermatitis.

Inadine can be used with close supervision in patients with kidney or thyroid disease, or infants under the age of 6 months.

Usage guidance

  • Apply directly to superficial wound bed and secure in place with appropriate secondary dressing
  • Effectiveness of inadine is reduced in contact with exudate - when inadine turns white it indicated the loss of antiseptic efficacy and therefore the dressing should be changed.
  • For wounds with moderate - high exudate levels consider iodosorb paste or an alternative antimicrobial.
  • Inadine can dehydrate the wound bed so use should be monitored

It is recommended antimicrobial dressings are prescribed for two weeks for treatment and then reviewed.
