Iodosorb Paste
Iodosorb paste is an antimicrobial paste which assists with autolytic debridement and exudate management in infected or high risk of infection wounds
Iodosorb paste contains cadexomer, polyethylene glycol and Iodine offering a broad spectrum antimicrobial.
Compared to Inadine non-adherent dressing, Iodosorb paste offers a slower sustained release of Iodine and has a high absorbency capacity improving exudate management.
Usage guidance
- Iodosorb paste can be placed directly onto the wound bed, or applied to a non-adherent dressing to aid application. Apply to a 0.5mm thickness. Secure in place with an appropriate secondary dressing.
- Wear time is dependent on exudate levels - once the orange colour has faded to white the product is no longer active and requires changing.
- Iodosorb paste should not be used on dry/necrotic wounds.
- Not appropriate for use in patients with known sensitivities to Iodine, children, pregnant or lactating women and those with severe thyroid or renal impairment.
- No more than 50g should be applied per application or 150g per week - consider wound surface area and frequency of dressing changes on selection of dressing.
It is recommended antimicrobial dressings are prescribed for two weeks for treatment and then reviewed.
