Prontosan gel & Prontosan gel X

Prontosan gel and Prontosan gel X are antimicrobial gels used to aid wound cleansing as well as the treatment and prevention of wound infection and biofilm formation.

Prontosan gel and Prontosan gel X contain Betaine surfactant and PHMB antimicrobial for the cleansing and disruption/prevention of wound infection and biofilms.

Prontosan gel X is a more viscous gel compared to Prontosan gel, aiding application.

Can be used on acute and chronic wounds

Prontosan irrigation fluid is contraindicated for use on the central nervous system or meninges, middle or inner ear, eyes or on hyaline cartilage.

Usage guidance

• Prontosan gel and Prontosan gel X can be placed directly onto the wound bed, or applied to a non-adherent dressing to aid application. Apply to a 0.5mm thickness. Secure in place with an appropriate secondary dressing.
• Frequency of dressing changes will be indicated by wound assessment and monitoring needs of wound.

It is recommended antimicrobial dressings are prescribed for two weeks for treatment and then reviewed.
