Incontinence Associated Dermatitis (IAD)/ Moisture Associated Skin Damage (MASD)

• Assess and treat reversible causes of incontinence
• Optimise continence management - consider referral to the continence team
• Regular skin assessment - including under skin folds
• Structured skin care regimen - PH balanced cleanser and barrier cream

In addition to preventative measures....

• Consider insertion of IDC or use of faecal management system
• Assess and treat fungal skin infection if present 
• Utilise barrier cleansing wipes - discontinue other barrier products
• High risk pressure ulcer prevention care plan

In addition to Mild - Moderate IAD/MASD management...

• Wound assessment and implement appropriate wound management care plan
• Refer to Continence Team
• Refer to Tissue Viability Team
